A quick and easy summer cocktail featuring fresh blueberries, bourbon, mint, and lemon juice, balanced with simple syrup and topped with club soda for a refreshing fizz.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup fresh blueberries
  • 2 oz bourbon whiskey
  • 68 fresh mint leaves
  • 3/4 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1/2 oz simple syrup
  • Club soda to top off (about 2 oz)
  • Ice cubes
  • Lemon wedge and mint sprig for garnish

Instructions

  1. Place 1/2 cup fresh blueberries and 6-8 fresh mint leaves in a mixing glass. Gently muddle with a muddler or spoon just enough to release the juices and mint oils without pulverizing.
  2. Add 2 oz bourbon, 3/4 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice, and 1/2 oz simple syrup. Stir gently to combine.
  3. Fill the glass or shaker with ice cubes, leaving room for soda.
  4. Shake for about 10 seconds or stir vigorously for 20 seconds to chill and blend the ingredients.
  5. Strain the mixture into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice. Top off with about 2 oz club soda.
  6. Garnish with a lemon wedge on the rim and a sprig of mint. Optionally, add a few whole blueberries into the glass.

Notes

Do not over-muddle the mint to avoid bitterness. Use fresh blueberries for best flavor and color. Freshly squeezed lemon juice is essential for brightness. Adjust simple syrup to taste for sweetness. Serve immediately after adding club soda to maintain fizz. For a smoother drink, strain before serving.
