A quick and easy patriotic charcuterie board featuring red, white, and blue ingredients arranged to resemble the American flag. Perfect for Fourth of July and other patriotic celebrations.

Ingredients

  • Fresh strawberries, sliced
  • Red grapes, halved
  • Red bell pepper strips (optional)
  • Assorted cheeses such as white cheddar, mozzarella balls, and creamy Brie
  • Cauliflower florets or jicama sticks
  • Plain crackers or breadsticks
  • Fresh blueberries
  • Blackberries (optional)
  • Sliced salami or pepperoni
  • Prosciutto or smoked ham
  • Honey mustard dip (mix Dijon mustard, honey, and a splash of lemon juice)
  • Olives (green or black, pitted)
  • Mixed nuts (almonds or pecans)

Instructions

  1. Rinse all fruits and veggies well. Slice strawberries and grapes in half. Cut cheese into bite-sized cubes or slices. Trim bell peppers into thin strips if using. This step should take about 10-15 minutes.
  2. On the top left corner of your board, create a roughly rectangular section for the “stars.” Fill this area densely with fresh blueberries, adding blackberries here and there for texture if you like. This should cover about 1/3 of the width and 1/2 the height of your board.
  3. Starting from the top right, lay out rows of sliced strawberries alternating with red grapes or pepper strips. Each row should be about an inch wide, creating vivid red stripes across the board. Leave small spaces between rows to keep it neat. This step takes around 10 minutes.
  4. Between the red rows, fill the gaps with cheese slices, cauliflower florets, or crackers to mimic the white stripes of the flag. Mix textures here — soft Brie next to crunchy crackers works well.
  5. Fold or roll thin slices of salami and prosciutto, placing them in small piles or gentle waves along the board’s lower edges or in any gaps. This adds depth and a savory contrast to the sweet fruit.
  6. Spoon honey mustard dip into a small bowl and set it near the board’s center for easy reach. Scatter olives and nuts in remaining spaces to fill out the display and add variety.
  7. Step back and fill any uneven spots with extra berries, nuts, or crackers. The board should feel full but not overcrowded. This last step usually takes 5 minutes.

Notes

Keep wet fruits dry by patting with paper towels before arranging to prevent sogginess. Arrange the board right before serving to keep crackers crisp and fruits fresh. Use pre-sliced salami and cubed cheeses to save time. Substitute ingredients for dietary needs such as vegan cheeses or gluten-free crackers.
