These easy mini caprese skewers combine fresh cherry tomatoes, mozzarella balls, and basil leaves drizzled with a sweet balsamic glaze for a light, flavorful, and crowd-pleasing party snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 20 cherry tomatoes, washed and dried
  • 20 fresh mozzarella balls (bocconcini or ciliegine size), drained
  • 20 fresh basil leaves, young and tender
  • 1/3 cup sweet balsamic glaze
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil (optional)
  • Pinch of flaky sea salt
  • Freshly cracked black pepper, to taste
  • About 6-inch wooden or bamboo skewers

Instructions

  1. Drain the mozzarella balls thoroughly on paper towels to avoid sogginess. Rinse and dry the cherry tomatoes and basil leaves carefully to keep them fresh and vibrant.
  2. Take each skewer and thread one cherry tomato first, followed by a basil leaf folded gently to fit, then a mozzarella ball. Repeat until all skewers are assembled. Do not overcrowd the skewers; one of each per skewer is just right.
  3. Lightly sprinkle flaky sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper over the assembled skewers. If desired, drizzle a tiny bit of extra virgin olive oil over the top for a silky finish.
  4. Using a squeeze bottle or spoon, gently drizzle the sweet balsamic glaze over the skewers. Aim for an even coating without soaking the ingredients.
  5. Serve immediately or chill briefly in the refrigerator for up to one hour before serving. Let them come back to room temperature for the best flavor.

Notes

Pat mozzarella dry to prevent sogginess. Drizzle balsamic glaze just before serving to avoid soggy skewers. Avoid overcrowding skewers for balanced bites. Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours, keeping glaze separate and adding it before serving.
