A quick and easy creamy garlic parmesan chicken recipe made with just five simple ingredients, perfect for busy weeknights and comfort food lovers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound (450g) boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup (240ml) heavy cream
  • 3/4 cup (75g) freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons (28g) butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels. Pound to about 3/4-inch thickness if uneven. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chicken breasts and cook 5-6 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through (165°F internal temperature). Remove chicken and keep warm.
  3. Lower heat to medium-low. Add remaining 1 tablespoon butter to the pan. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant and lightly golden, stirring constantly.
  4. Pour in heavy cream and stir to deglaze the pan. Bring to a gentle simmer.
  5. Whisk in grated Parmesan cheese until melted and sauce thickens, about 3-4 minutes. Add a splash of milk or chicken broth if sauce is too thick.
  6. Return chicken to the pan and spoon sauce over. Heat through for 1-2 minutes. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
  7. Serve chicken topped with creamy garlic parmesan sauce. Garnish with chopped parsley or cracked black pepper if desired.

Notes

Dry chicken well for better browning. Use fresh garlic for best flavor but garlic powder can substitute. If sauce separates or becomes grainy, reduce heat and stir gently. For dairy-free, substitute heavy cream with coconut cream and Parmesan with nutritional yeast. Adjust cooking time if using chicken thighs.
