  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup (95g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup (35g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon edible gold dust or gold luster dust
  • 1 tablespoon light corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang on the sides for easy removal.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together melted butter and granulated sugar until smooth and glossy, about 1-2 minutes.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  4. In a small bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually fold dry ingredients into wet batter with a spatula just until combined; do not overmix.
  6. Pour batter into prepared pan and spread evenly, smoothing the top to about 1-inch thickness.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, checking at 20 minutes with a toothpick; it should come out with a few moist crumbs.
  8. Cool completely in the pan, about 1 hour.
  9. Lift brownie slab out using parchment overhang and cut star shapes with a star-shaped cookie cutter. Re-roll scraps for smaller bites.
  10. In a small bowl, mix edible gold dust with light corn syrup and water until smooth and glossy.
  11. Drizzle gold mixture over brownie stars using a spoon, paintbrush, or piping bag. Let set for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

If batter is too thick, add about 1 tablespoon of milk to loosen. Do not overmix batter to keep brownies tender and fudgy. Use parchment paper with overhang for easy removal. Let brownies cool completely before cutting to avoid crumbling. Adjust gold drizzle thickness by adding water if needed. Store in airtight container layered with parchment to keep edges crisp and centers moist.
