Tender pork chops glazed with sweet maple syrup and served with caramelized apples for a comforting and flavorful meal perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 pork chops (bone-in or boneless, about 1-inch thick)
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon fresh minced garlic
  • 2 medium apples (firm, slightly tart varieties like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves (or dried thyme)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Season both sides of the pork chops generously with salt and pepper. Let them sit at room temperature while you prepare the other ingredients.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together maple syrup, apple cider vinegar, and minced garlic to make the glaze. Set aside.
  3. Core and slice the apples into thin wedges. Peeling is optional.
  4. Heat olive oil in a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add the pork chops and sear for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown.
  5. Remove the pork chops and set them aside on a plate. Add butter to the skillet and melt it. Add the apple slices and sauté for 3-4 minutes until softened and lightly caramelized.
  6. Pour the maple glaze over the apples and stir to coat. Nestle the pork chops back into the skillet and spoon some of the glaze over the top.
  7. Reduce the heat to medium-low and let the pork chops simmer in the glaze for another 5-7 minutes, or until they reach an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).
  8. Plate the pork chops and spoon the glazed apples on top. Garnish with fresh thyme leaves before serving.

Notes

[‘Searing the pork chops locks in juices and adds flavor.’, ‘Use a meat thermometer to ensure pork chops are cooked to 145°F (63°C).’, ‘If the glaze thickens too much, add a splash of water or apple cider to loosen it.’, ‘Fresh thyme is preferred for better flavor, but dried thyme can be used as a substitute.’]
