Flaky, buttery puff pastry paired with gooey, cheesy goodness makes these cheese twists a delightful snack that’s quick and easy to prepare.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (sharp cheddar or Parmesan recommended)
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Garlic powder
  • Optional: Dried herbs like thyme or rosemary
  • Optional: Pinch of cayenne pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400Β°F (200Β°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface until it’s about ΒΌ inch thick, maintaining a rectangular shape.
  3. Spread shredded cheese evenly over half of the pastry. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, and garlic powder to taste. Add optional herbs or spices if desired.
  4. Fold the other half of the pastry over the cheese, pressing lightly to seal the edges.
  5. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut the pastry into 1-inch wide strips. You should get about 8-10 strips depending on the size of your pastry.
  6. Twist each strip gently and place them on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each twist for expansion.
  7. Brush each twist with the beaten egg to achieve a golden color when baked.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the twists are puffed and golden brown.
  9. Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm for the best flavor!

Notes

Use cold puff pastry for best results. Avoid overstuffing with cheese to prevent spillage during baking. Experiment with flavors like paprika or sesame seeds for extra flair.
