A simple yet elegant dish featuring crispy prosciutto wrapped around tender asparagus, topped with a rich balsamic glaze. Perfect for any occasion and naturally gluten-free and low-carb.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh asparagus spears, trimmed
  • 810 slices prosciutto, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic glaze
  • Sea salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Optional: Grated Parmesan cheese
  • Optional: Lemon zest

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400Β°F (200Β°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Wash the asparagus and pat it dry. Trim off the tough, woody ends.
  3. Wrap each asparagus spear tightly with a slice of prosciutto. Repeat for all spears.
  4. Place the wrapped asparagus in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Drizzle lightly with olive oil and sprinkle with sea salt and black pepper.
  5. Roast in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, turning the spears halfway through, until the prosciutto is crispy and the asparagus is tender.
  6. If making homemade balsamic glaze, simmer 1 cup of balsamic vinegar in a small saucepan over medium heat until reduced by half and thickened, about 10 minutes.
  7. Remove the asparagus from the oven and drizzle with balsamic glaze. Serve immediately while warm.

Notes

Turn the asparagus halfway through baking to ensure even cooking. Add lemon zest and Parmesan for extra flavor. Monitor the prosciutto closely to prevent burning.
