This irresistible overnight cinnamon roll casserole is the ultimate breakfast treat that feels indulgent but is surprisingly easy to prepare. Prep it the night before and enjoy a warm, comforting dish in the morning.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cans (8-count each) refrigerated cinnamon rolls
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • Β½ cup heavy cream
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • Icing from cinnamon roll cans

Instructions

  1. Open the cans of cinnamon rolls and set the icing packets aside. Cut each roll into quarters and spread the pieces evenly in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and maple syrup until well combined.
  3. Evenly pour the custard mixture over the cinnamon roll pieces, ensuring everything is well-coated. Gently press down any pieces that are sticking out so they can soak up the custard.
  4. Cover the dish with plastic wrap or foil and refrigerate overnight (or for at least 6 hours).
  5. Preheat your oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C). Remove the casserole from the fridge and let it sit at room temperature for about 10 minutes. Bake, uncovered, for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the center is set.
  6. Once the casserole is out of the oven, let it cool slightly before drizzling the reserved icing over the top. Use a spatula to spread it evenly.
  7. Serve warm and enjoy! Add optional toppings like fresh fruit or extra syrup if desired.

Notes

[‘Don’t overbake to avoid drying out the casserole.’, ‘Let eggs and milk come to room temperature before mixing the custard for smoother blending.’, ‘If the top starts browning too quickly, tent the dish with aluminum foil halfway through baking.’, ‘Add a drizzle of melted butter or more maple syrup over the rolls before baking for extra richness.’, ‘If you forgot to prep overnight, let the casserole sit for at least 1 hour before baking to absorb some of the custard.’]
