These heart-shaped chocolate covered pretzels are quick, easy, and perfect for Valentine’s Day. They combine the salty crunch of pretzels with smooth, rich chocolate for a nostalgic and delicious treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 40 mini pretzel twists or sticks
  • 12 ounces semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips or melting wafers
  • 4 ounces white chocolate (optional, for drizzling)
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil or coconut oil
  • Heart-shaped mold or cookie cutter (optional, for shaping pretzels)
  • Sprinkles or crushed nuts (optional, for decorating)
  • Parchment paper or silicone baking mat

Instructions

  1. Gently bend mini pretzels into heart shapes using a heart-shaped cookie cutter as a guide if available. This takes about 10 minutes.
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat and set aside.
  3. Melt 12 ounces of semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips with 1 teaspoon of vegetable or coconut oil in a double boiler or microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 20-second bursts, stirring between each, until smooth and glossy (about 5 minutes).
  4. Dip each heart-shaped pretzel into the melted chocolate using a fork or dipping tool, coating fully but not dripping excessively. Let excess chocolate drip off and place on the lined baking sheet. This takes about 15 minutes.
  5. While the chocolate is still wet, sprinkle crushed nuts, sprinkles, or sea salt on top if desired.
  6. Optional: Melt 4 ounces of white chocolate and drizzle thin lines over the set pretzels for contrast. Let set for about 10 minutes.
  7. Allow the chocolate to harden at room temperature or refrigerate for 15-20 minutes to speed up setting. Avoid condensation by not chilling too long.
  8. Once set, carefully peel pretzels off the parchment and arrange on a platter. Serve or package for gifting.

Notes

If chocolate thickens while dipping, warm gently again in short bursts. Work in batches to avoid clumping. Tap fork gently after dipping to remove excess chocolate. Avoid refrigerating too long to prevent condensation and dull shine. Use high-quality chocolate for best results. Dairy-free and gluten-free substitutions are easy.
