A simple yet indulgent side dish featuring nutty brown butter, crisp green beans, and toasted almonds. Perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed and washed
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup slivered almonds
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Wash and trim the ends of your green beans. Pat them dry to remove excess moisture.
  2. Heat a dry skillet over medium heat. Add the slivered almonds and toast for 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently, until golden and fragrant. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Add the unsalted butter to the skillet over medium heat. Let it melt and cook, stirring occasionally, until it turns golden brown and smells nutty (about 3-4 minutes). Be careful not to burn it.
  4. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds, just until fragrant. Don’t let it burn.
  5. Add the green beans to the skillet and toss them in the brown butter and garlic. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the beans are tender but still crisp.
  6. Sprinkle the toasted almonds over the green beans and season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Add a squeeze of lemon juice to brighten the flavors.
  7. Transfer the green beans to a serving dish and enjoy immediately while warm.

Notes

[‘Keep the heat at medium when browning butter to avoid burning.’, ‘Pat green beans dry to prevent splattering and ensure better cooking.’, ‘Toast almonds separately for even browning and crispiness.’, ‘Season generously with salt and pepper for optimal flavor.’, ‘Avoid overcooking the green beans to maintain their crisp texture.’]
