  • 1 cup milk (or plant-based milk for dairy-free)
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 ¾ cups milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Fresh berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
  • Sliced bananas
  • Whipped cream
  • Maple syrup
  • Honey
  • Nut butter (peanut butter, almond butter, or sunflower butter)
  • Chocolate chips
  • Chopped nuts (walnuts, pecans, almonds)
  • Powdered sugar
  • Butter (softened)
  • Jam or fruit compote
  • Crispy bacon
  • Breakfast sausage links
  • Hard-boiled eggs
  • Cheese slices
  • Yogurt

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pancake Batter: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, mix the milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Gradually combine the wet and dry ingredients until smooth and lump-free. Let the batter rest for 5-10 minutes.
  2. Cook the Pancakes: Heat a griddle or non-stick skillet over medium heat. Lightly grease the surface with butter or cooking spray. Pour ¼ cup of batter for each pancake. Cook until bubbles appear on the surface, then flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes or until golden brown. Keep warm.
  3. Prepare the Waffle Batter: Mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in one bowl. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until smooth.
  4. Cook the Waffles: Preheat your waffle maker and lightly grease it. Pour the batter into the waffle maker, following the manufacturer’s instructions for quantity. Cook until the waffles are golden and crispy. Keep warm.
  5. Prepare the Toppings: Wash and slice the fresh fruits. Pour syrup, honey, and nut butter into small bowls. Place butter, whipped cream, jams, and other toppings in separate dishes.
  6. Assemble the Charcuterie Board: Arrange the pancakes and waffles in one section of the board. Surround them with fruits, toppings, and optional savory items like bacon, sausage, or cheese. Get creative with the layout—mix colors and textures to make it visually appealing.
  7. Serve: Place the board in the center of the table and let everyone dig in! Encourage them to create their own perfect combo.
