This baked Camembert paired with a sweet and tangy homemade cranberry compote is a show-stopping appetizer that’s easy to make and perfect for entertaining.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8-ounce wheel of Camembert cheese
  • 1 cup fresh cranberries (or frozen)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons orange juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • A few fresh sprigs of rosemary
  • Crackers or crusty bread for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C).
  2. Unwrap the wheel of Camembert and place it in a baking dish. Score the top rind in a crosshatch pattern with a sharp knife.
  3. In a small saucepan, combine cranberries, sugar, orange juice, orange zest, and cinnamon. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until cranberries burst and the mixture thickens into a compote (about 8-10 minutes).
  4. Place the prepared Camembert in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the cheese is soft and gooey.
  5. Remove the Camembert from the oven, spoon the cranberry compote over the top, and garnish with fresh rosemary sprigs. Serve immediately with crackers or crusty bread.

Notes

[‘Choose a good-quality Camembert for the best creamy texture.’, ‘Do not overbake the cheese to avoid it becoming too runny.’, ‘You can prepare the cranberry compote up to two days in advance and reheat it slightly before serving.’, ‘Fresh rosemary adds an earthy aroma and complements the dish perfectly.’, ‘Offer a mix of crackers, sliced baguette, and even apple slices for dipping.’]
