  • 1.5 ounces (45 ml) whiskey (or rum or brandy)
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) fresh lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons (10 ml) honey
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 23 cloves
  • Optional garnish: lemon slices and a sprinkle of nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Bring 1 cup (240 ml) of water to a boil using a kettle or saucepan. Once boiled, let it cool slightly for 1-2 minutes.
  2. In a heatproof mug, add 1 tablespoon (15 ml) of fresh lemon juice and 2 teaspoons (10 ml) of honey. Stir until the honey dissolves.
  3. Add 1.5 ounces (45 ml) of whiskey to the mug, followed by the hot water. Stir well to combine.
  4. Drop in a cinnamon stick and 2-3 cloves for extra flavor. Let the spices steep for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Optional: Garnish with a lemon slice and a tiny sprinkle of ground nutmeg for a festive touch.
  6. Serve warm and enjoy the soothing comfort of your homemade hot toddy!
