Flavorful Smoked Cream Cheese Dip with Jalapeño

A smoky, spicy cream cheese dip with diced jalapeños and everything bagel seasoning, perfect for parties and casual snacks. Cold-smoked for a subtle woodsy flavor and a creamy, crunchy texture.

  • 8 ounces (225 g) cream cheese, softened
  • 12 medium jalapeño peppers, finely diced (seeds removed for milder heat)
  • 2 tablespoons everything bagel seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • Salt to taste (about 1/4 teaspoon)
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Rinse and finely dice 1 or 2 jalapeños, removing seeds if you prefer milder heat.
  2. Let the 8 oz (225 g) cream cheese sit at room temperature for 20-30 minutes until soft but not melting.
  3. Place the softened cream cheese in a shallow dish and set it inside your smoker or grill configured for cold smoking at about 90-100°F (32-38°C). Smoke for 30-40 minutes using hardwood chips like apple or hickory. Keep the lid closed to trap smoke and avoid cooking the cheese.
  4. Transfer the smoked cream cheese to a mixing bowl. Add diced jalapeños, 2 tablespoons everything bagel seasoning, 1 teaspoon smoked paprika, 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon lemon juice, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper. Mix thoroughly with a spatula until evenly combined.
  5. Taste and adjust seasoning or jalapeño amount as desired.
  6. Cover and refrigerate the dip for at least 1 hour to let flavors meld. Overnight chilling is preferred.
  7. Spoon the dip into a serving bowl and sprinkle a pinch of everything bagel seasoning on top. Serve with crunchy chips, fresh veggies, or toasted bagel slices.

Notes

If you don’t have a smoker, bake the cream cheese with smoked paprika and a few drops of liquid smoke at 350°F (175°C) for 10 minutes or skip smoking and add extra smoked paprika. Wear gloves when handling jalapeños to avoid irritation. Chill the dip for at least 1 hour for best flavor. Use dairy-free cream cheese and smoked sea salt for a vegan version.
