A quick and easy recipe for smoky, crispy bacon wrapped hot dogs grilled to perfection and topped with your favorite classic or creative toppings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 beef or pork hot dogs (natural casing preferred)
  • 8 slices thin-cut bacon (center-cut recommended)
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable or canola oil (for greasing grill grates)
  • Optional Toppings:
  • Diced onions
  • Pickle relish
  • Yellow mustard
  • Ketchup
  • Shredded cheddar cheese
  • Jalapeño slices (optional)
  • Coleslaw

Instructions

  1. Preheat the grill to medium heat (about 350°F). Clean the grates and brush with oil to prevent sticking.
  2. Pat hot dogs dry with paper towels. If bacon slices are large, cut them in half lengthwise.
  3. Wrap each hot dog tightly with a slice of bacon, overlapping slightly. Secure with a toothpick if needed.
  4. Place bacon-wrapped hot dogs on the grill perpendicular to the grates. Grill for 10-15 minutes, turning every 3-4 minutes until bacon is golden brown and crispy.
  5. In the last 1-2 minutes, toast split buns cut-side down on the grill until lightly toasted.
  6. Place each bacon-wrapped hot dog in a toasted bun and add your favorite toppings.
  7. Serve immediately while hot and crispy.

Notes

Use thin-cut bacon for best crispiness. Keep grill heat moderate to avoid burning bacon. Turn frequently for even cooking. Avoid piercing hot dogs to keep juices inside. Toast buns for added crunch. Can bake at 400°F for 20-25 minutes if no grill is available.
