A quick and easy campfire dessert featuring bananas stuffed with chocolate, marshmallows, and graham crackers, wrapped in foil and cooked over an open flame for a gooey, delicious treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 ripe but firm bananas, unpeeled
  • 1 cup chocolate chips or chopped chocolate (semi-sweet or milk chocolate recommended)
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows
  • 4 sheets graham crackers, broken into pieces
  • Optional toppings: chopped nuts (pecans or walnuts), shredded coconut, or a sprinkle of cinnamon
  • Heavy-duty aluminum foil for wrapping

Instructions

  1. Prepare your campfire coals until glowing hot but without large flames, or preheat grill to medium heat (about 350°F).
  2. Slice each banana lengthwise down the middle, being careful not to cut all the way through.
  3. Gently pry open each banana and stuff with about 1/4 cup chocolate chips, a handful of mini marshmallows, and broken graham cracker pieces. Add optional toppings if desired.
  4. Place each stuffed banana on a large piece of heavy-duty foil and wrap tightly, folding edges to seal.
  5. Cook the foil packets on hot coals or grill grate for 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally with tongs to prevent burning.
  6. Carefully remove packets from heat and let cool for 1-2 minutes. Open foil carefully to avoid steam and enjoy warm.

Notes

Use bananas that are ripe with a few brown spots for best texture. Wrap foil packets tightly to trap steam and prevent leaks. Turn packets every 5 minutes to avoid burning marshmallows. For dairy-free, use vegan chocolate chips and marshmallows. Can be cooked in oven at 375°F for 15-20 minutes if no campfire is available.
