These Brown Butter Pecan Blondies with Sea Salt are a decadent treat featuring nutty browned butter, sweet brown sugar, and crunchy toasted pecans, topped with flaky sea salt for the perfect balance of flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (225 g) unsalted butter, browned
  • 1 cup (200 g) light brown sugar
  • ½ cup (100 g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1¾ cups (220 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup (120 g) pecans, toasted and roughly chopped
  • Flaky sea salt, for sprinkling on top

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line your 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper, ensuring the edges hang over for easy removal.
  2. In a medium-sized saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Swirl the pan occasionally and watch closely. Once the butter turns a golden brown color and starts to smell nutty, remove it from the heat and let it cool slightly.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the browned butter, light brown sugar, granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth and well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, folding gently with a spatula until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  6. Fold in the toasted, chopped pecans, making sure they’re evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it out evenly with a spatula.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
  9. Remove the blondies from the oven and let them cool in the pan for 15 minutes. Then, carefully lift the parchment paper to transfer the blondies to a wire rack. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt while still warm.
  10. Once the blondies are completely cool, slice them into squares or bars and serve. Enjoy!
