Juicy, flavorful chicken tenders cooked in the air fryer without breading for a healthy, quick, and versatile meal. Perfect for busy weeknights, meal prep, or a protein-packed snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb fresh chicken tenders or boneless, skinless chicken breasts cut into strips
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp paprika (smoked paprika optional)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano (optional)
  • 1 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • Cooking spray for air fryer basket

Instructions

  1. If using chicken breasts, slice into even strips about 1 inch wide to mimic tenders. Pat all pieces dry with paper towels.
  2. In a mixing bowl, add chicken, olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, pepper, oregano, and lemon juice. Toss until evenly coated.
  3. Preheat air fryer to 400Β°F for 3-5 minutes.
  4. Spray air fryer basket lightly with cooking spray. Arrange chicken tenders in a single layer, cooking in batches if needed.
  5. Air fry at 400Β°F for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through with tongs. Chicken should be golden and reach an internal temperature of 165Β°F.
  6. If tenders are thick, add an extra 2-3 minutes. Check for doneness.
  7. Let chicken tenders rest for 2-3 minutes before serving.

Notes

Pat chicken dry before seasoning for best browning. Don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket; cook in batches if needed. For extra flavor, marinate chicken for 30 minutes before cooking. Use a meat thermometer to ensure chicken is cooked to 165Β°F. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat in the air fryer for best texture.
